(Cambridge, MA) Last year's regular season champion, Binghampton University, barely edged out the defending tournament champion, Stony Brook University, to claim the top spot in the 2009 America East Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Bearcats received four of a possible six first-place votes and 34 total points, while the Seawolves claimed the remaining three first-place votes with 33 total points. Head coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.
The top four teams in the conference will advance to the America East Championship. The tournament will be held May 21-23 on the field of the highest seeded team that has lights.
