The Gophers tacked on another run in the top of the 2nd, pushing across the unearned score while needing only one hit. Seven-hole hitter Eric Decker reached leading off the inning, thanks to an error by the WVU shortstop AJ Petterson. Decker advanced to third, after a popup and flyout, before scoring when senior DH Matt Nohelty pulled a single through the right side (the leadoff man Nohelty earlier walked and scored).
Minnesota has four hits and no errors, while WU has three hits and two defensive miscues. Gophers sophomore RHP Seth Rosin has walked two and hit a batter (in addition to allowing the three hits), with three strikeouts.
