There was a game that started before this morning's UConn-Michigan State match-up at the Big East/Big Ten Challenge. Florida Gulf Coast beat Central Michigan 4-3 in a game that started just after midnight this morning in Ft. Myers, FL in the FGCU Invitational.
That makes FGCU pitcher Patrick Nathanson the first winning pitcher of 2009. Central Michigan's Steve Teno struckout 10 in 7.0 IP, but he suffered the loss.
The two teams will play again tonight at 8pm.
