Handful Of Upsets & Ranked Head-to-Heads

There were a few upsets around college baseball Friday night:

Oregon knocked-off defending national champion #15 Fresno State 1-0 in Eugene. Andrew Schmidt's walk-off RBI single won the game in Eugene. Oregon starter Tyler Anderson scattered six hits over eight shutout innings.

Pacific rolled by #17 San Diego 14-6. Pacific right fielder Mike McKeever homered and totaled 5 RBIs.

Washington State got its first win of the season with a 9-2 triumph over #22 Oklahoma in Pullman, WA.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee blasted #25 Michigan 19-11. Wolverine centerfielder Ryan LaMarre was 4 for 5 with two home runs and 7 RBIs in his team's first loss of the season. Shawn Wozniak homered and had 5 RBIs for the Panthers.

In games featuring two ranked teams:

Third-ranked Texas A & M downed #14 UC-Irvine 9-2. Aggies first baseman Luke Anders homered and drove-in four.

#10 Rice beat #9 UCLA 5-4 in 10 innings. Rice starter Mike Ojala fanned 11 Bruin batters in 6 2/3 IP. Both of those games were at the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park.

#10 Miami handled intrastate rival #13 Florida 8-5 in the Gators' first loss of 2009. Hurricane left fielder Jonathon Weislow finished with two home runs and 5 RBIs.

#16 Cal State Fullerton managed a minor upset with an 8-1 win over #11 Stanford. Fullerton's Jered Clark hit a grand slam and drove-in six total runs.
