Purdue Shutting Out Michigan, 3-0 (middle of 6th)

In one of four Big Ten vs. Big Ten games being played in conjunction with the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge, Purdue holds a 3-0 lead on Michigan – with the Wolverines preparing to bat in the bottom of the 6th. Sophomore RHP Matt Morgan remains on the mound for Purdue (5IP-5H-2BB-4K) while Michigan freshman RHP Brandon Sinnery entered the game moments ago, in relief of sophomore RHP Kolby Wood (5.2 IP, 3 R/1 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 5 K).

Purdue's two runs in the top of the 2nd was sparked by a leadoff double down the rightfield line (from senior 1B John Cummings) and senior RF Alex Jaffe's infield single to third. An errant pickoff throw from catcher Coley Crank) allowed Cummings to score and Purdue senior catcher Eric Nielsen added a sac. fly to left field for the 2-0 lead.

The Boilermakers tacked on a run in the 6th, after a fielding error on 3B Tim Kalczynski, Nielsen's single through the left side, a runner-advancing flyout and senior LF Brandon Haveman's RBI single (this one through the right side of the infield).
