For the second straight day, Michigan has erased a three-run lead with a three-run inning late in the game. The Wolverines brought home their runs in the bottom of the 6th, with RBI singles from junior 1B Mike Dufek, freshman DH Jake McLouth and junior pinch-hitter Chris Berst. Michigan chased righthander starter Matt Morgan (5 IP, 3 R, 7 H, 3 BB, 4 K) and reliever Kevin Cahill (both RHPs) during that rally.
Michigan's current pitcher of record is sophomore RHP Tyler Burgeon (3 IP, UER, 3 Ks), who has combined with starter Kolby Wood and brief reliever Brandon Sinnery to allow only one earned run today.
This game looks to be headed for extra-innings, unless Michigan wins in the bottom of the 9th for the second straight day (USF held a 5-2 lead on the Wolvernies yesterday, heading into the the bottom of the 8th, but UM tied it moments later and won it in the 9th, 6-5).
